![]() ![]() The individuals at the ‘front’ of the creative process (editors, writers, and pencillers) receive more prestige and creative control than those, such as inkers, letterers, and colourists, at the latter end of the process (Gabilliet 2010: 111 & Cadrette 2016: 99). Historically, comics production has been divided into multiple sequential stages, executed by a series of creators performing specific tasks, not unlike an assembly line. Though patterns certainly vary from country to country, a consistent set of processes emerge regardless of geography. The history of comics-making is overwhelmingly hierarchical and male-dominated. ![]()
